“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in”. (Revelation 3:20)
Those are the words of our precious Lord Jesus. Those words tell us something about the basic character of Jesus. We know that Jesus is mighty, is strong and powerful. Just at His word and command, He could do anything and everything. When there was a storm over the Sea of Galilee, He just rebuked the wind and the storm and immediately the sea, the wind and the storm obeyed Him and calmed down. He is such a mighty God. His hands are almighty. With His hands, He stretched the heavens above and created every thing that is present in the skies.
Such
a mighty One says now that He is standing at the door of human heart
and knocking, waiting to be invited in. what a strange thing for him to
do! If He only wants to enter into the room, He can break open the door
in just one blow of His mighty hand. Nothing could stop Him! Yet He says
“I am waiting at the door. Will you please allow me to come in?”
That
shows that Jesus is the most thorough gentleman! He would not use His
power and might to break open the door though He is able to do it. He
respects the human will which He Himself has created. He wants each and
every person to accept and receive Him willingly. He cannot bless them
unless they want it. He cannot bless anyone against their wish and will.
He wants to convince the people and create willingness in their heart
to get saved and be blessed.
This
is the reason He sent us to preach the gospel to all the nations of the
world. We are not preaching the gospel to convert anyone but by
preaching the gospel we are trying to enlighten and convince the people
about their need of the Saviour.
Whenever
a person is convinced that he needs Jesus and opens the door of his
heart, Jesus enters into the heart and performs His mighty work of
salvation and redemption in the life of that person. That is the beauty
of the character of the Son of God. He doesn’t force Himself upon anyone
but patiently waits for the proper invitation, respecting the
individuality of the person! Hallelujah! What a wonderful person Jesus
is! Have you received Him into your heart? If not, please do it and do
it –NOW!
